I was just damn lucky mine went as smoothly as it did. I was fully expecting them to reject the RMA claiming it was user damaged with a suspcious new screwdriver gouge on the mobo. I got it back and it actually worked.

But I'm never dealing with DFI again after this, either.

Yes, but that is not testing them to make sure they actually work with components, which is what I am saying.

I think I've got quite the opposite from Asus. My old P5B, which they kindly stepped me up from a P5B-MX, is still running strong, and even when there were problems, the happily sent me a new one. The P5S-MX SE I bought has never failed, ever, since I got it. And my current Maximus II Formula is just a sublime, stable board.
The only time I actually bought another board was the XFX 750i, which had less BIOS options than a pogo stick, didn't overclock half a megahertz before crashing repeatedly, and bluescreened throughout the installation of Windows.
Asus ftmftw.

You know what I do in a situation like this and I've been unable to get it resolved via the company itself? (This is assuming you're in the USA) Send them a certified, return receipt letter demanding they either give you a full refund or replace the board otherwise you'll be forced to file a claim in small claims court. Be sure to include all your documentation. (This is a legal form of intimidation; it essentially shows you won't back down and the evidence is on your side) Try to send this letter to someone high up in the company. You can usually find this info via Google or searching SEC filings. It also doesn't hurt to send this to multiple people. I.E. CEO and regular business address. Most likely it'll be resolved quickly.

If they still ignore you go down to the county clerks office and they will help you file the lawsuit. Contrary to popular belief the county clerk is usually really nice and helpful. It usually costs no more than $20 to file a small claims lawsuit too. Once they get served, and they see you're clearly in the right, you'll most likely get a phone call from a nervous rep explaining they will refund everything, including the cost to file the suit. If however, it goes to court, you'll most likely find the defendant never showed up because the amount you're suing for was far less than the amount it'd take to send a rep to the court house. This will result in a default judgment in your favor. (AKA full refund) It rarely goes to court though and even if they do show up for court if you're in the right you'll win. (and even better than winning you'll walk away knowing you fought back when a company tried to take advantage of you)

I've personally done this twice. The first company I actually had to file the lawsuit but once they got served I got a phone call from the company asking where to send the check. (Banking issue) The other company backed down after simply receiving the letter and I ended up getting a free gift as an apology for the bad service I received.

Just keep in mind that you should only do this when you're definitely in the right and you've exhausted all other routes at getting it resolved. Otherwise the judge will just laugh at you.

Anyhow, good luck and be sure to always be polite and professional when dealing with the company. (Being abusive towards the company will look very bad to the judge)

Also, if you're in the USA, make sure, if you purchased your product with a credit card, that you understand the provisions of the Fair Credit Billing Act. It has been in existence since at least the 1980s, and usually you can get refunded out under it if you follow the proper procedure, which is to conduct everything in writing.

ASUS has been :turd: with my motherboards, but their RMA has been absolutely amazing.

EVGA is the opposite, at least the RMA part.
First, the 680i refused to work. Sent it in.
Waited 2 weeks for the board. 2 god damn weeks, and I had to pay shipping both ways.

Second board didn't work. The speaker wouldn't even beep. The board received no power. Replaced the PSU and even tested with new RAM and my spare C2D CPU. No good. Sent this one back in, waited a week, paid shipping both ways.

Third board, this is where it gets great. I mean beautiful - EVGA gives me an ALIENWARE MOTHERBOARD. Yep, a BIOS locked Alienware branded motherboard with complete boot logo and the whole 9 yards. I call them up and I'm like what is this :turd:? They go ahead and do ANOTHER RMA but after requesting to give me free priority shipping, or any free shipping at all, I had to again pay shipping both ways. Waited ANOTHER week for the board.

By the end of that last week, I had to buy another board. Luckily this ASUS P5Q-E has been running OK. Can't get above 3.60ghz but what are you gonna do you know? I refused to go back to the other board, sold it on OCN.

Do you know what a pain in the ass it is to ship stuff here in New York? There is 1 UPS thing on the other side of the island from where I live. And usually, it closes at the end of rush hour. So while dodging morons driving on the road during these hours, travel across the island and back, just to ship the god damn thing 3 times. Of course my mom did not enjoy that and I had to pay for the mobo shipping and even the gas for the car trips because it pissed my mom off so bad. EVGA refused to give me any compensation for their constant screw ups. Normally, shipping things out wouldn't be a problem - USPS right down the block kinda but EVGA did UPS only the bastards.

I was sickened with them.
Generally their video cards are decent imo. I do enjoy them alot more then the other brands. But their RMA service is :turd:. Never again. The only reason I'm getting a Classified is because of the amazing deal I'm getting on what is supposed to be an amazing mobo.
