No card. You should give me the $2000 instead, I'll put it to better use. :P

Don't get a workstation video card.
You don't need the fastest RAM. Everything else is fine, but another monitor would really make things easier to organize.

Looks like its good enough. Like someone else mentioned, a second display would be good. Better speakers, soundcard?

I don't believe Adobe is making use of it yet, but encoding with Cuda is pretty nice. I used Badaboom last week with my 9800gtx and it was pretty slick.

I've already got a RAID 5 going, a PERD 6/i with four 1TB Caviar Blacks...soon to be eight in RAID 10 (or in RAID 6) Quote:
Actually, Adobe/NVIDIA does have a plugin called "Elemental Accelerator 2.0" that's supposed to tap into an NVIDIA workstation GPU's capabilities...I was looking at the Quadro FX 3800 for this.

I think a gaming card would do just as good, then again I havent read anything on the matter. I know with my 9800gtx badaboom encoding around 150 to 180fps, I still get faster speeds using dvdflick for my m2v and ac3 files though. I would imagine for adobe's purposes it would probably be a nice boost.

Don't upgrade your RAM, it's fine.

I only used it for testing purposes, I would like to see ati and nvidia looking more at technologies like these. DX11 is suppose to help with this type of stuff as well I've read. I think down the road most encoding will be done thru graphics cards. Lol maybe I'm completely wrong...
