Didn't specify wether you needed a dedicated gpu, I'm assuming you don't for server apps (you can add one to this board anyways if you do.), so here is a build, 6 gigs of ram, 2 tb of space (7 year warranty on the HD) dual xeon i7's (16 threads). Still about $400 left to play with, let me know if I left anything out. You could probably upgrade to faster processors, or more ram or more HD space, but thats a pretty fast build for server based apps, it could also be used as a virtualization server with ESXi if you added a perc6 raid card.

Licensing will require us to use a single physical processor. Onboard video is great if it is available, otherwise we can use whatever is cheap and available (~$50 should do it). Thanks for the suggestions, they are much appreciated.

The system will draw around 200-300w so a 400-500w PSU is fine. OCR = Optical Character Recognition? You might want to load up on RAM plus a RAID controller + HDs since I assume you will be dealing with large files.

![]() my build! the P6T WS is a pretty good workstation motherboard. Might as well throw in 12gb of RAM since its so cheap 7200GS for less heat output
