Default Detail to retail?

Thanks to the good folks here on OCN, soon enough I will have sold off my 955 and 790FX mobo to put towards an i7 setup. I settled on the 920, but the mobo I want is the Bloodrage. I had a friend that works at Staples sign up for the INtel Retail Edge, so for $289 I can get the 920, a mobo, and win7+winvista. However, theres no way of telling what stepping the 920 will be, and the DX58SO isn't the board I'm looking for? Should I take the deal and just sell off the mobo, or, just buy something off the good guys on here?

Get the deal. Even if you only manage to sell the Intel board for $100 (you should probably get more, link), that's an i7 920 and a full OS for $189.

If your friend is allowed to pick his pack from a pile of them, (i.e. there's 50 for the people who signed up and you just come and grab one and leave), tell him to grab the D0. If it's not like that, I still think you should go for the deal. With a good C0 you can get 4GHz at reasonable voltages.

For $189 for the 920+OS, you can't complain IMO

Now, the issue is, how much more are you willing to spend to get the benefits of a D0 920?
And, is there any demand for the Intel board? It might not be that easy to sell. Pricing at $100 though would produce a guaranteed sale.

As far as I know the D0 stepping CPU's are the only ones available at the moment. The C0's are long gone. I would not put the money in the mobo, get the mini bundle of the CPU and OS for $129 and get a better mobo, do not settle for that intel mobo, its not good at all.

Get the mini bundle. It is the same thing minus the mobo, and it only costs $129. The 920 you will get is the latest possible revision, coming straight from Intel.

If there is a mini bundle (it sounds too good to be true though), then yes I agree.

Ya I know, but mine is already ordered. I work at Staples in Canada, and was able to get mine done. Its an Intel i7 920, Vista Ulitmate x64, with a voucher for Win 7 Ultimate x64 upon release. You CAN NOT loose with that deal imo.

The added cost of the mobo for $160 extra makes no sense at all. I would take that and add another hundred or so, and grab up a Gigabyte.

Here is a link to the bundles they have atm.
