Smile new RAM not running at the correct speed?

I just bought 4GB of Kingston KHX14400D3K2/2GX memory for my computer and when i check CPU-Z its says its running at 800MHz (1600MHz) but its meant to be running at 1800MHZ. Does anyone know what i would have to change in my bios to get it to 1800MHz? My MB is a gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6. I suspect this is a really dumb question but any help would be much appreciated

You'll either have to overclock the RAM in the BIOS, or enable an XMP profile if your RAM has one.

Does it have an LED debug on the board?

Check to see what that says, and look in your manual to see what the error code means.

If it doesn't have one of those, does it make any beeps.?

My best suggestion would be to reset the CMOS. If you are able to, write down the XMP profile of your RAM and compare it to what you already have in the BIOS. I read this article, the guy set his at 2.0V running at 1800MHz & got 7-6-6-18 timings. His were initially very unstable running the stock timings at 1.90V and he bumped them to 1.96V eventually after several hours of testing.

Award BIOS? With Award, one beep indicates its a RAM problem. Pull all but one out and try restarting. Repeat this with each module until you've done them all, then you know which are good. You could also try the above first if you can get into the BIOS, but if you can't make it past POST, then you have to try as I suggested first.

After clearing the CMOS I can get into the bios and I tried setting the voltage to 2.0v but I got the same thing. save, restart and then it just hangs until I clear the CMOS again

Quick thought, the xmp profile is setting my FSB to 450. Would I need up the FSB voltage?

You probably can't hit 450FSB, you'll either need to change your RAM divider, or Unlink your RAM from your FSB.

Side Note: 450FSB is really hard to achive on the C stepping of QX9x50 chips.

System: Maybe you'll work again?

So I'm not gonna get 1800MHz... That sucks. What FSB do you think i will be able to get?
