I think I'll continue to just wait and save up and see what happens. Honestly...all prices are just going to go down yet stay in the same position. Like the Q9650 will drop around $2XX while Q9550 goes down to $XX-$1XX and people will just say the same thing. If that continues to happen...I'd probably just wait for the i9 if it doesn't have an extreme version that is...then I probably go i7 920 if it's still available by then.

Thanks again guys.

Well the i7 920 is going to be discontinued next month, so I wouldn't count on the price of it going down anymore. If I were you I would go snatch one up at Microcenter while you still can.

Oh and the i9 chips will all be extreme editions, meaning they will all cost more than $1000 more than likely. I think the i7 920 is your best bet for a long time.

alternatively you could consider P55? as fast as an i7 920 in many tests but cheaper...

and don't count on Q9650 prices going down much either - it's a high end chip so that halo effect will help keep prices rather high, just like the FX-60 / EE Pentiums of old

The nearest microcenter is about 45min to an hour away from me and I can't seem to find it on their website. Newegg and Amazon have it for about $220...however I would get it off Amazon considering free shipping and no tax

So I think I'm heading toward the Q9550 route if $220 is a good price for it. I could get the i7 computer together for about ~$700 (~$800 if I get Classified instead) but I would have to charge it on my newegg preferred account...and I hate having that feeling of debt. Plus going through ebay again to sell computer parts is such a hassle (yea I'm lazy ).

If Microcenter is only 45 mins from you go there dude, you will save $60 doing so. Also, if you get the i7 920 from Microcenter that will knock off about $80 from your total build cost, totally worth it if you ask me. Especially considering socket 775 is dying and can't really be considered futureproof.

If I want it right away I would go get it but I'm not. Plus you have to put into consideration that driving there and back will cost me ~$40 in gas so technically I'm only saving about ~$10-$20. I'm still waiting on my paycheck so I'll go search on how much of a difference it is if it's worth it from my e6750 to q9650/q9550. Thanks again guys.

Lol what kind of car do you drive??? $40 to drive about 30-40 miles each way? I drive from LA to Orange County constantly (50 miles one way) and it only costs me about $10 round trip! I say it's totally worth it dude, especially because of the fact that you get it right away and can guarantee that you get a good batch.

I'm assuming you don't drive very much?

Simple, I was running at 4,0Ghz; but I did not need the speed.
So why keeping it running on that speed?

And I did not said that the minimum was 4,0 on EVERY Q9550 I said it would clock high enough to reach 4,0 GHZ; (This is ofcourse depending on the stepping and ViD)

Sorry If I was not clear (and for my late reaction xD)

If you've got a Nvidia chipset it might be difficult for you to get to 4.0GHz, invest in some good CPU cooling as you'll need lots of voltage if you can do it.
