So I'm running into stability issues with my rig. I feel like they are related to the ram speed. So I can get through a few hours of prime95 at 4.2 GHz with 1.4 core. As soon as I start a game though, I get a system crash. I seem to see a problem when booting the system on startup.
It will start booting, but I can see my indicator LED's on my my mobo flash off, then back on and the video card resets. It will not do this and POST first time with memory at 1066 and on stock clocks. Here are my voltages and settings @ 4.2 GHz: CPU Vcore - 1.45v PLL voltage - 1.88v IOH voltage - 1.20v ICH voltage - 1.20v QPI Voltage - 1.395v DRAM voltage - 1.64v using the x21 multi at 200 bclk ram timings are 9-9-9-24 QPI at x36, uncore at x16, ram at x8 Hope this is everything you all need.

Run memtest X86 to see if something wrong with the memory.
Also try to reduce the mem clocks to 1600ish with 8-8-8-21 timing and see if you have the problem continuing

I'm not overclocking the memory. I'll try running memtest.
EDIT: So when I try and run memtest, it just hangs. Any idea what I can do?

No problems with ram set at 1600 MHz at bclk of 133. It is when I raise the bclk when I start getting the video card (now it looks as if it is a total system reset) before posting. Does this mean not enough, or too much voltage?

Well I guess this is closed. I got 4.0 stable for nearly 6 hours on Prime95 with no errors at all, and I can game. Maybe I just can't get 4.2 stable or my ram up to the rated speed. No worries, I like it where its at.
Still likes to reset on bootup, and it always catches on the third reboot, maybe just a timing thing.

Uhh, so I was watching video on Hulu and I got a crash. I got through 6 hours of Prime95 and nothing, but Hulu crashes it. That to me doesn't make much sense.
Could it be the video card? Maybe I need to change the PCIe voltage? It's at auto which is 1.5v.

I wouldn't mess with the PCIe voltage since you could brick your card. I would try downclocking your memory to a lower setting (whatevers in the middle of your SPD table) then see if your OC is stable. If it is, then raise your ram a little bit and test until it's unstable.

The weird thing is that I can get through Prime95 on Large FFT or Blend for hours and hours, but while booting the system resets itself twice and sometimes won't boot into windows.
Lowering the memory to the lowest multi and for some reason I can't boot at all. Seriously this is starting to bother me. EDIT: It is definitely BClk. I tried taking out three sticks of ram and that didn't help. It just resets twice, catches and off it goes. There has to be something I'm missing. Please help!!!

Ok, well I guess just close this thread because I am an idiot. I did some googling and found out that slow posts are common to X58. I ran LinX at 4.2 GHz with all 12GB of ram in and got through a half hour with no errors. I am pretty happy with it, so I'll leave it as is! Thanks for the help guys!
