Hi everyone currently having an issue with my recently purchased DFI board, everytime i try to overclock the chip past 166 the system refuses to boot, can do 164 no problems and still be stable, chip is running at 3.93Ghz.

I know the DFI's can be picky, Ive tried to adjust the voltages and still no avail, its becoming a hassle and the system seems stable @ the above setting.

Current setup:

DFI Lanparty UT X58-T3eH8
Core i7 965 EE @ 3.93Ghz
Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme
6GB Corsair dominators 1640Mhz 8-8-8-24

Any ideas why I cant seem to go above 166 in CPU CLK? to make this run at 4Ghz, or is the board just being fussy?

Suggestions and help with this will be grealy appreciated, thanks guys.

Also, forgot to add i tried 170Mhz CPU BCLK and 20x, disabled turbo mode and still getting the same thing, simply fails to boot.

Im guessing the DFI is to blame its deffinitely not the processor or ram, any ideas on what this could be? when turbo mode is enabled cpu runs @ 4,100Mhz without any problems when at 164MHz BCLK x24 (unlocked multi), ran prime stable. do I need to enable turbo to get this running beyond 4Ghz? I would also say this should be doing 200Mhz x20 without any problems.

thanks in advance

my guess is it is the CPU, because i have yet to see a X58 UT not be able to hit 200BCLK with no voltage adjustments. the X58 DFI boards are amassing overclockers.

make sure your ram is at 1600mhz, and read this:http://i4memory.com/f80/dfi-lanparty...n-guide-12855/

EDIT: just noticed the EE, just push the multi....... thats why you have a EE.

Is Turbo mode a good option to keep enabled does that really make all that difference?

EDIT:

noticed you have the same board as me how are you finding it, the last DFI board i had was great but a bit picky at times. thats a nice clock on the 920 how are the temps on that you using air or water cooling, sure it could be the cpu whats the problem here. Ive tried 1.4 cpu vcore and still no avail.. wondering if a bios update would help, you ever update the bios on that board?

It appears to be faulty, I knew DFI's could be fussy but this is a complete joke. Simply cant go beyond 166 tried to set multiplier to 4.03ghz and lower to 145 and its showing 3.45Ghz in bios and in windows?? absolute disaster of a board to configure will most likely return it. disapointed with DFI.

it seemed like a decent board. I cant believe the amount of money i spent on this junk, last DFI i ever touch im pretty ***** off right now, disapointed with it i knew i wasn't doing anything wrong, I'll leave it until tommorow and then its getting returned.

First of all, what bios are you using? My rig is at 4.35ghz HT on 24/7 stable with a 920 d0.

The max i've gotten my board to is at 235bclk. resulting in 4935mhz on LN2. This board is extremely capable. I'll seen it hit bclks of 250+.

I think im using the earliest revision, it wont let me me go above 166Bclk its unusual the max multi as you will know on the board is x24 even though im using an EE, so i cant get it above 4Ghz unless i enable turbo mode.

Could the problem be with the actual processor its self? I have no idea why its limited to this true I would of expected this DFI board to of gone much higher ive even tried giving it 1.42 vcore and it still didn't work.

just displays black screen and fans spin up when i go anywhere near above 166.

Have you try using CPU special add voltage setting and leave the core voltage on auto?

Nope havent tried that yet, would that help?

curious if the cpu is the actual problem or if the board is faulty or needs updating, im sure the chip isn't faulty but cant be 100 percent certain.

I tried the DFI site but couldn't find the board on the list only showed the T3eH6.
