Yeah boot priority's are set right.(as far as I can tell) I just tried moving sata slots and it didn't work.

have you disabled the floppy? and as for the boot priority set your h/d as the device to boot first, it seems like it is detecting something else then moving onto your h/d.

Maybe your boot sequence it trying to load from a device with no MFT and no OS, and then moving on to your drive with Vista installed. It's worth looking at in your BIOS settings.

Would it be affected by the fact that my dvd drive is in a lower slot number then the hdd?

not really, it depends on how the boot sequence sees the devices.
but it wouldn't hurt to switch them around.

I think the whole idea of CD being the first is so newbs dont have to play around in the BIOS to install a new OS or whatever. As long as you know how to choose the boot device in the BIOS, its no issue.

Yeah I was just wondering because like other people said if he try's to mix around it might take the problem away. But yeah really no issue. Mind if you show us your hdd settings in bios?
