ahh thats np. I built my rig for $499 flat (i wanted to keep my build at the same price as a walmart special... resulting in a rig on ebay selling for 4k). of course that isnt including the $350 i paid for my GPU.
Your best bet to lower prices is to recycle all that you can from an older rig. go through this checklist and mark off what you can obtain w/o a purchase. Box- Rosewill R223-P-BK 120mm Fan ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $24.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147109 PSU-OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Active PFC Power Supply $59.99 (49.99 after MIR) dont skimp here, OCZ will replace a unit no questions asked. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341012 cd\dvd drive- recycle one RAM- refer to mobo recommendations. $30-50 GPU- onboard sound- onboard HDD- your choice AM2+ and AM3 are basically the same socket, please someone correct me if these two are not universal. looking for the best cpu bang 4 buck atm with mobo. Mobo- Foxconn M61PMV AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard 41.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186155 CPU- AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor $99 (* posted on newegg by thatguythere: For the guy asking whether it works on a AM2+ motherboard. The answer is yes if your motherboard has a bios that supports it. Go to the mobo manufacturer's website and check the supported CPU list. Most likely they would have an updated bios for it. I had to update mine.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103706 if you follow this so far its only $217, you still need to work out ram (30-50 bucks) and a HDD (recycle one). But your well on your way to a nice 4-core rig.
