Whoa, I just noticed. Now that's what I call extremely excessive overkill to the power of 1600 (not just to the power of 10).

Since you've got a 790i SLI board and that beastly PSU why don't you buy 1 or 2 more GX2s to run in SLI? It'll be a great increase in performance, you'll save money over buying a new GT300/5870, and you'll be using the full potential of your board.

I'm also getting Windows 7 in a few weeks if that changes anything.... (hopefully for the better)
lol, I remember when you first got your xfx 9800gx2, you had heating issues with it. Im pretty sure your rig can handle any game out there. maybe the new games wont be maxed but on medium settings any game is playable. as for me Ive moved on to some better video cards but somewhat regretted it. I should have stuck with my gx2.

your rig is decent. it isnt the best of the best, but it sure isnt a slouch when compared to your average desktop pc.

A 48** will be slower than his current card man. Maybe a 4890 might slightly beat it out. Not worth "upgrading" to though.

as I recall, on the crysis bench mark for the 9800GX2 on my rig, the min framerate was 18fps and the average frame rate was 31fps.

the 4890 the min framerate was 23 fps and the average frame rate was 30.

the 4890 is the better card but not by much. game play is smoother though.

Thanks all for replies. I am glad to know that I won't HAVE to blow more money on it for a while. I was thinking about getting a geforce gtx 295, partly because of my nvidia board (and intel cpu), but I haven't kept to date on the ati cards and compatibilities so I wasn't sure. If you guys think I have another year, then I'll probably buy the tv this year and a new graphics card next year. Thanks again.
