Default too much overclocking?

Hey i am pretty new to overclocking and i have tried to overclock my computer..

I have overclocked the CPU with 14Mhz. from 266 to 280.

Before the overclocking the temprature was 55 degrees C.
Now it is about 60 degrees C. Have i overclocked too much or can i do it more? i dont want to burn my pc, but i really need the ekstra power.

I can also overvoltage. Is that a good idea?

thx

P.S. i think this is the wrong place to post this, but i couldn't find the right place... Fail me >.< plz move it if its in the wrong place

Definitely not too much, maybe too much for that heatsink to handle.

Overvoltage is a bad idea, adding a bit of voltage is not a bad idea.

Also, fill out your system specs HERE

yea i'm not sure if i want it to get any more heat in there. But 14Mhz and 5C is a big diffrence for me. I only have standrad cooling system, nothing special. Can it handle andmore overclock? like another 14Mhz? that will likely make my system 65C. :S

you see, i have this PS2 emulater and it takes 99% of the cpu and stil it is very laggy >.< so i need overclock or a new pc

When it comes to power, you need to increase .25 at a time and then boot up and check your temps. Maybe you should consider a better cooler to help out on cooling.

The emulator shouldn't be using 99% of your CPU..Could be another issue that you aren't seeing. I know that with some of the PS1 emulators they require a bit of tweaking in order to run properly.

What is your CPU's multiplier?

I'm pretty sure you've overclocked 14 MHz of FSB, which equates to anywhere from 100 to 150 MHz of clock speed.

That's definitely not too much by the way. If you want to do some more overclocking, you should definitely get an aftermarket heatsink though. A good one is only ~$30 and will help lower your temps A LOT.

Don't bother ocing for this. Those ps2 emulators are terribly coded, you could probably not even play a game smoothly with quad sli gtx295 cards and an overclocked i7 extreme
