But at MC, it is only a $30 difference between the 2. 920 is $200 and 860 is $229. I have been contemplating the same thing. I am leaning towards the i7 860 and a mATX P55 board since I am going for small form factor this time around. I like the EVGA mATX P55 SLI board, but I havent seen it out yet.

The mobos are much more expensive on i7 unless you go mATX. There are pros and cons for both, but you already have a good cpu and I dont think the jump is worth it.

i realise this, my point was the i5 (750) is simply NOT more expensive than i7's.

Ya, you have plenty of time to think it through. Im sure new benches will be released as well as articles comparing the new chips. I think you would be happier with the cpu upgrade though, since you seem anxious to get rid of the 750i, lol. You can also make some money back if you sell your old stuff, so you wont be spending as much

i5s are great with single GPUs.

I wouldn't spread false information. You CAN SLI with the p55 board, but it will only be x8x8 and you'll lose like 5 fps at most. Also I do not understand why you say you can't keep upgrading the p55 platform. Its like any other platform minus one small feature, big deal. Most people use one card anyway since direct X updates every 2 years or so.. I've been using my rig since 06 and I don't have a problem with the speed, my only honest problem is my old graphics card, yay!. I gave my 2nd card to a friend since it honestly didn't do much for me

On another note, the 920 might drop more then the i5 durring Q1 area releases I might pick up a 920 for myself and a decent mobo if they go down enough.

I would not go for I5 either it just does not have enough juice and is not triple channel, if you really want to change wait a bit longer and go for I7 CPU X58Mobo and triple channel its worth it
