Default Should i go Core I5 for Christmas?

I know this has been asked(except for christmas part )but i need to know if i should go Core I5 when its christmas? Ether i can get a monitor(widescreen HD one, bout 20 inches)or go I5 with a new motherboard(a good one that can oc) and DDR3 Ram so that i can leave the 750I ONCE AND FOR ALL!

btw i have a Q9550@4.0Ghz(cant go farther or else crash)and i have megahalems to keep the cpu cool

and doesnt both the I5 and Q9550 not have HT?thats what i heard and I5s are WAY BETTER oc'ers+if i get a new motherboard,i can overclock easier and maybe even more since my 750i gets me stuck dead on 4.0Ghz and all the stress it put on me to go on 4.0ghz,and the vdroop problems

im thinking 90% to go I5...

REP will be given for helpful posts

and btw im going to buy the processor @ microcenter

I would NOT. Your current processor is good enough for now, and you can't go SLI with i5. I don't know why anyone would go that route unless they're satisfied with building a new rig within 2 years. If you went i7, you could gradually upgrade and probably keep it 4 years.

Ummm you can go sli but it would be in x8 not x16 like on i7 boards. There wouldn't be a diffrence in alot of occasions but I rather it be x16. Anyways yeah I would get a i7 over the i5.

Nope, your current setup is fine. i5 is more expensive than i7 anyway, idk why anyone wants i5.

I don't think that it'd be worth the expense when your system is already good. I also think that most i5 are overpriced. But I did just buy an i5 rig yesterday. I wasn't going to buy anything, but Fry's has a good deal on the if 750 and evga P55 ftw. For $300 I couldn't pass it up.

Am I going to notice the difference between it and my sig rig, probably not. I only did it to try out something new.

I am thinking the lowest amount of money to spend on a i7 rig(ram, cpu, mobo) would be lets say around 380 bucks if you go to microcenter to get the cpu. I would really prefer to go with phenom 2 over the i5 if I were on a budget because the mobo's of the i5's or expensive. But of course in your situation that does not a option lol.
