New to Overclock.net
|
i'm new to overclocking. wanted to try overclocking on my (poor lad!!) cpu. as i got to know, only SW OC is possible bcoz of my great MB. i'll really appreciate the dos and donts from u guys.
__________________one qn i have is, will OCing my cpu help in gaming as i have a 9600gt alpha dog edition from XFX which i think is maxed.

i noticed a huge improvement in games from my OC

if you can unlock your bios and clock from within the bios that would be a much much better option then using OCing software....no offence PCWIZMTL

thanks for fast response...
__________________checked bios with alt jumper setting.. a "maintanance" tab appeared: clear all passwords fixed disk boot sector - normal C1E - enabled (following ones r disabled) processor stepping - 00000F64 microcode revision - 04 ratio actual value - 17 board id - 0 i think there is notin in bios that can help OC or am i missin somethin? or i'l have to go with clockgen. i got this one called "CPUcooL". shud i use this or go with clockgen. if clockgen, what pll shud i set? i read "ICS 954123" will work with my setup. suggestions?

The only reason I mentionned clockgen is because I had that board and was going through the same thing as the OP. I only found out about the jumper by accident a year and a half later (LOL) but yeah, if you can overclock through the BIOS, do it, if you can't, use clockgen... works like a charm... well for me anyhow!

yup i did set physical jumper, the only one i cud c on my mobo. the spec it enables more options in bios. it sure did as i explained in prev post.
