For the hard drive, instead of getting one 1TB, you could get 2 500MBs or 2 WD640s and Raid 0 them to make file copying and writing and such twice as fast, for the same price.

The SSD to boot up is worth it definitely. It has a random access time of less than 0.1ms, compared to a regular spindle hard drive's 8ms or worse. And also, those dreaded game loading screens (e.g. Crysis) load faster!

Im afraid I have had bad experiences with raid 0, so I feel the benefits do not out weight the risks.

Ah ok then.

Ide highly suggest the P6T, great for its price.

I think a standard P6T can further save some money instead of getting a V2 Deluxe. Other than that its a good build and since your going on water think about overclocking it at 4 Ghz or beyond.
He could install his games and software on his SSD to make them all load faster. even 64 GIG doesn't last very long especially with games taking up a few gigs here and there, but it's worth having your game screens load faster.

Regarding the Mobo, try to get a cheap X58, honestly. You won't FEEL a difference in terms of performance anyways, so why blow the extra $100 or more for just a slight variation in numbers? As long as it runs your desired Crossfire, OCs, you're fine.

Get the P6T, unless your some uber leet dude who benchmarks and has money to piss away, I doubt your gona notice much of a difference. Mine got my i7 to 4.2 but my d0 batch needs higher volts, so I run it at 3.8 at 1.2vcore. Oh and getting to 3.8 took me about 15 minutes in the bios, plenty of testing though, but BIOS is great.

I have read the p6t is 8+2 but the delux is 16+2 phase power,

Wouldn't this effect the stability of an overclock?

Since no one has chimed in I'll try to help a little, although admittedly I dont know to much about this subject. From my basic research it seems like power phases are something for "extreme" overclockers to worry about, every article I've read doesnt conclude, it suggests there might be something in the stability. From my perspective, I got the board stable at 4.2ghz, which for me is more than I need, just fine. I just backed off on the o/c because the heat was too much and the trade off for 400mhz just didnt justify the extra volts for me. But was it stable? Yeah, it survived 24 hrs of stress testing just fine, at a "mere" 8+2 phases. I'm an average o/cer, not looking to break records, nor do i **** off to benchmarks, so this works for me. I guess it depends on your expected uses for your system.

Thanks for the reply, I probably look to get it to 4.4, i'll have a look around and see if anyone has a stable p6t overclocked there.

Luckily I don't have to make the decision for another 15-20 days, so I have time to see what comes in stock ect
