Default New build, just wanting some advice

Hello, I plan on buying this system mid next month, and just wanted to make sure I've made the best choices.

I plan to overclock to the best stable overclock I can achieve (it will be 24/7) so obviously the ability for the motherboard to overclock well is important.

My budget is 2500, I already have a HX-620 PSU that I am hoping will be adequate, but I will upgrade in the future for crossfire.

I will be water cooling, this is my first time away from air cooling, and plan to do one loop with just the CPU and if I get the bloodrage or a mobo that comes with a waterblock I will cool that as well (won't buy an after market one till later).
I will also be running a second loop if I ever decide to crossfire, mounting a dual rad someone (modding if necessary).

I have a dvd drive allready

Prices are in Australian Dollars

All stuff is from pccasegear.com.au or gammods.com.au or for the cpu Itestate
  • Ram: G.Skill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD 215
  • Motherboard: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 379
At the moment I would prefer a foxconn bloodrage but only if an online shop ever stocks it in Australia. which is the better option?
  • Graphics: Sapphire HD5850 1Gb DDR5 PCI-E 348
Another hd5850 later when prices drop for crossfire
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 920* 379
  • CASE: Corsair Obsidian Series 800D 399
This or the tj07 are the main cases I am considering, all water cooling must be internal.
  • HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB WD1001FALS* 119
  • SSD: G.Skill Falcon 64GB SSD 255
SSD as a boot drive worth it?
Water:
  • Res: Reservoir (Bay)-1x5.25", Acrylic, Black, G1/4" 45
  • Pump: Danger Den CPX-1 12 Volt Circulating Pump 65
no really sure what pump to get?
  • Rad: Swiftech MCR320-QP Radiator 89
320 rad, this one seems to be a decent option price wise?
  • CPU bk HEATKILLER® CPU Rev3.0 1366 119
happy to shell our that bit extra for the best on the market.

As a final note, is selling my current gtx8800 a good idea, or I have heard about the possibility of using it for physics processing???????

Thanks Swalden

I highly recommend getting your parts from www.pccasegear.com

I like the EVGA X58 LE SLI personally which can be used with ATi cards and accommodates crossfire. The rest of your build looks fine.

I'd say an SSD is worth it if you have the budget for it and have enough storage already. Try and get an SLC controller one and the one you've chosen is a good one (but MLC). Just see if you can fit it into your budget.

I'd personally try and get a gigabyte ud3/ud5 instead of the asus board. IMO they OC just as well as the EVGA boards and cost a fraction of the price. Other than that your build looks good to me

Your build looks good to me but maybe wanna consider this board as it will do the same as the one your considering and alot cheaper. Also your ssd as a boot drive is a nice touch complimented with the 1tb storage drive.

Thats one good looking mobo,

With the SSD im new to them, so what is the difference between the SLC and MLC controller?

The issue I am having with motherboards is australian stores are all sold out of x58 boards, the bloodrage and ud4p I cannot find.

Since I still have a good 20 days till I will be ordering this rig, I have time to see if anything comes out, or gets in stock, so I shall just wait for a while with the mobo choice then. glad to see the rest of the rig is pritty sound.

A 64 GB SSD as a boot drive is too much, get a 32GB as save some money then you can probabaly improve on the graphics like get a HD5870. Then once you saved enough money you can CrossXfire it. I think a standard P6T can further save some money instead of getting a V2 Deluxe. Other than that its a good build and since your going on water think about overclocking it at 4 Ghz or beyond.

SLC = Single Level Cell
MLC = Multi Level Cell

What does it mean? An SLC has 1bit per cell while the MLC has 2 bits per cell. Essentially, and SLC SSD is much more efficient than an MLC one because it can select singular bits rather than selecting multiple ones, some of which may not be relevant.

mm p6t was one of my original considerations, how far do you reckon you can get it stably? I see what you mean about the 32 gb. how big is that ultimate copy of window 7 you have?
