Default can I make onboard video memory higher on an intel?

OK so I was told by a friend, that it is possible to take out some of your "onboard memory" and give it to the onboard video memory. Is this in anyway possible? I was sure if it is, it would have to be in bios.

it would be in the bios... you can set how much of your ram to dedicate to your on-board video card... depending on the bios, you may be able to set it to as high as 1GB or as low at 2MB...

though, your on-board video isn't going to be able to do much... so 64mb should be plenty...

Not with GMA. It dynamically allocates. Others do allow but really it is an IGP so not like anything is going to make it much better.

Your sig rig claims a 9800GT, and it's the only rig you have listed. Last time I checked, the 9800GT has it's own dedicated memory...are you trying to remove the memory going to the onboard?

There should be a BIOS switch to turn the onboard off entirely.

IF it's for a friend's rig, then it's up to the bios. Some mobos will allow it, some won't. OEM mobos(Dell, Apple, HP, etc etc) tend to be locked the hell down and won't let you change enough to warrant even having an enterable BIOS in the first place.

I'm not using Windows because it's better. I'm using Windows because it has DirectX.

yup, even if you can change it, there wouldn't be much improvement.
