Default LGA 775, Few Questions

I'm building off a motherboard my brother gave me, An Asrock 4core1333-GLAN R2.0.
I first looked at this cpu http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159452, then i found this one for a little more, is it better?
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167118

Is this CPU ok? im on a bit of a budget, im currently at college getting only 30 quid a week. Should i buy this Friday ?
Is it an ok cpu for gaming, games like Left4Dead if i got me a Graphics card like an 8800GT or something?

Also what i wanna ask is about ram. On the motherboard box it says DDR II 800
By that i guess it means 800mhz ?
Should i get 800Mhz ram? or is lower ok.
Show me a recommendation if you can by link to which i could buy. Looking to get around 2GB to start with.

Cheers

Imo, if you're going to go down the 775 range, it should be a quad core. Otherwise it'll need to updated fairly soon.

Either of those CPUs seem fine though.

Ok thanks for the reply.
The motherboard had a Q6600 Quad Core in there before.. I know nothing about jumper settings or whatever.. Do they need to be changed, or does the motherboard automatically configure all that stuff?

And can anyone suggest what ram i should get for this

Thanks

For RAM, pick some PC-6400 (DDR2-800).

For the processor, don't waste the extra money there. If you're going to get a Duo, the E5200 will be good enough. You WON'T notice a difference in a 0.2ghz margin. Besides, the processors' cache are all 2MB.

Get a E8400, 6MB L2 and its somewhat cheep. Its much faster than the e5200, I hated mine. Especially because it has NO virtualization. That means no virtual machines or anything that uses virtualization.

E5200 and E6300 you won't notice any difference between the two. The visualization won't make up for such a small speed increase and the cache is the same anyways.

E5200 to E8400, that makes sense since you're getting triple the cache, visualization, AND it effortlessly overclocks to 4ghz. However if you choose that route, and do NOT overclock, then just get a quad Q8200 since it's within the same price range, but with 2 more cores (it sucks for overclocking though, so if you OC I wouldn't recommend it)

Nah I would not get the Q8200, they are really bad quad cores. Intels failure imo. A Q9550 would be the best idea if anybody is going quad. E8400 will serve him well.
