Default $120 or so to spend on upgrades.

I swear, this is the last topic like this that I'll make. For now anyway.

I was planning on getting a 5770, but I might have to replace the PSU first as it makes a weird noise (sort of like an hdd seeking, but quieter)

I'm planning on an antec truepower new 750w or 750tx

But I'm not willing to jump right into spending this much money, so what do the fine members of OCN have to say?

I'm just worried it'll be a long time until I can make the money for a 5770 again.

I could always buy the video card and RMA the psu to see if I get a less ****ty one this time around

If I were you, I'd just upgrade to a 4850 Graphics card. You can get an HIS one for $99.99 right now with the free Stormrise game.

go for a 4870/5770. It isn't worth getting anything slower. Your PSU can hold up for a little, don't worry too much about it. When you can upgrade it, upgrade it.

I found out that the noise the psu makes is just coming from the fan, so it's not as urgent as I thought. I'll still have to RMA it, but now I won't have to buy a new psu for a few months.

I'll get a 5770. Does anyone know of any good deals?

To be honest, what else could it be, there are no moving parts other than the fan.

On topic: It's worth getting the Asus one, their warranty supersedes other ATI manufacturers from experience. Though that was just when I had my x1950 pro years ago.

With you system, why have any more than 500-550w PSU?

Even with your entire upgrade path, you shouldn't need anymore than 600w. So you can certainly save money there.

To OP:

You can run 5870 Crossfire or 285 GTX SLI on 750W. Why on EARTH do you need that kind of power?

Tom's hardware successfully ran an 8800GT SLI system on a 400W supply for 24 hours straight at load with no problems. Why on earth do you need 750W?

You can get a variety of QUALITY 450W power supplies in the $40 range (there are specials on newegg all the time). Buy one of those, and then spend $80 (or save up some more) and spent a bit more on a decent video card. Anything is better than your 4350.

And the 45nm processor suggestion was idiotic. You MAY get 400 more MHZ out of the overclock, but that's it. Totally not worth it.
