Hey guys, my friend is really into audio production and he really needs a new computer. He wants me to put together a kick-ass rig that he will use mainly for audio production, but I really don't know too much about the audio production needs in a computer, so I was wondering if anyone could throw me some ideas on what this rig should consist of? I was thinking of getting him an i7 for some nice processing power, but I'm not sure on the amount of RAM he's going to need, or what sound card, etc. Thanks guys!

Get him a Mac. No. Really. You can't beat a Mac Pro with ProTools|HD.
What DAW is he using? What external gear? Is there any reason at all he needs Windows? OSX gives you Logic Studio, as well as full Avid support.
