definitely agree with alot of ur suggestions. especially 2 x 500Gb HDDs, the HAF 932 and the GPU interpretation. but I'm one of those idiots who goes for brand loyalty over bang4buck xD.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! I was thinking about waiting, but I can't find any reliable information about when the GT300 series will come out. All I find is rumors...

As far as I know, that's all we have right now. If I had to venture a guess, though, it'd be late Nov/early Dec to make the X-mas season (us computer lovers need gifts too, you know!).

I think I might hop on to the 5870 bandwagon...honestly I have a lot more than $1500 to blow...I'm just trying to keep it reasonable. And though I don't game much at the moment, once the new Blizzard games + The Old Republic come out...I plan to a lot.
__________________I've heard different opinions about the release of the GT300 series. I've heard Nov27/early December and I've heard February at the earliest... Should I look into getting an SSD drive for the operating system to improve boot speed, stick with a single HDD or go RAID 0?

That power supply is much too big for the build; the only time you should have a 1kW PSU is when you're running tri-SLI. A 450-550W can handle single card setup, 750-850W for dual, and 1000+W for three or more GPUs.
__________________In short, I'd cut back on the PSU because it's both a waste of money when he buys it now and down the road when he consumes electricity he's not going to use.

It looks like you may be in time. in comparison to memory bandwidth the GTX380 = Crossfired 5850's so its looking up. consider nvidia is what my post comes down to. also if all your going to do is gaming and not a whole bunch of background tasks or multiple applications at once then a 1366 processor is really too much for you. Its too much for me even but heck, I dont care. an 8x pcie lane only seems to crunch a gtx295 and 5780 and my guess gtx360/380 fermi cards too. So a single fermi or 5900 series w/ 1156 mobo is what I would be eyeing if I were buying again and thinking of going to route you are. I hope the fermi arent overpriced at the end of November. Just think about it before you buy anything.

Should I think about waiting and getting a mobo with USB/SATA 3.0?

I'd definitely consider it; If you're going to buy a P55/x58 board, why not wait until the truly new features come out for it?

With $1500 and then some, you should be going LGA1366 without question. LGA1156 is a mainstream platform. $1500 is an enthusiast budget.
