Question How to overclock a Intel 2 Quad Core Q8200?

hello i have a Intel 2 Quad Core Q8200 and a motherboard Foxconn G31MX Series, i wonder how i could overclock the 2,3 ghz to 3 ghz or something like it.

but i already tryed changing settings in bios.

but the only problems is when i save the settings it does not save the settings its actually putting the settings to stock again.

so kinda im not allowed to overclock the Q8200 in my bios?

but anyway, i saw many forums which many people are succesfull to overclock this processor...

But any idea how i can do this, please any idea ???

oh and i just overclocked my video card (ATI HD 4650) by 50MHZ on GPU and MEMORY side and that whas succesfull, but i want to have my processor overclocked to!!!

please help!!!!

my not-overclocked yet Intel 2 Quad Core Q8200 (2,3 GHZ Stock and 4GB Ram)


my videocard which is a XFX HD 4650 with 1 GB of Memory


my motherboard which is a G31MX-Series Foxconn.

hey m8, welcome to Overclock.net

start by filling out your full specs for your system in the user cp at the top of the page.

from what i can tell it will most likly be your motherboard holding you back as the p3x range does find it hard to hit high fsb with q cores. it could also be a number of other things but without more info i would just be throwing more guesses at you like that 1.

First thing is are you running a stock cooler? Have you set you ram timmings and voltage? Have you disabled speedstep, c1e, eist and anything spreed sprecturm in the bios yet?

DL these software as you'll be needing them for viewing your progress,
Occt, realtemp, prime95, Intel burn test, cpu-z.
Also please fill in ( user CP ) at the top of the page and in the left side ( add system ). This info will help ocn members help you.

one thing only i dont have in my bios is HB Intelligent Tweaker (H.I.T.) i dont have that, what i have is Fox Central Control Unit in which i can change things about the CPU, but when i change and save things its not saved and it goes back to the old stuff....
