Nice drawing, crashdummy! I was thinking the same answer to my own question. However, SuperPi gave me almost the same numbers when I changed the multiplier half a point (0,5) lowering the FSB to maintain speed (perhaps SuperPi doesn't access the ram so much...)

Another thing: What can happen if I change the multiplier from 10 to 11 keeping all the others settings the same? I know I would get 3953Mhz, but would the systems work the same as now? How high is a multiplier too high?

I'm not sure about the multi being higher than the stock 10.5. I have never heard of anyone doing that? Usually you go for a lower multi and higher fsb.

I never asked for a technical answer as to why that is but was told: "Go harder on the motherboard and not on the cpu," by having a higher fsb and lower multi.

I've never even used the 10.5 multi after I started oc'ing. 10 is the highest I'll go: 10 x 400 = 4GHz. I've got a stubborn chip so anything past that takes too much voltage for my little cooler to handle. Plus my chip hits a wall at 400 fsb so I'm stuck with it....

You don't have to shoot for the moon right off. Find a stable decent oc for now and get to reading. Look through the guides in the Intel Motherboards and Intel CPU's sections and find some other rigs similar to yours.

Use the search box: E7500 or maybe Asus P5B...see what comes up. Someone might have your exact same set up somewhere on here and you can ask for their bios settings.

It's been quite a few hours of system stability. I've used it a lot, and also run Prime95 for about 12 hours. The system would seem to be stable. However, when I cold start it in the morning, I get no POST. I have to wait and reset a couple of times before it POSTs and Boots normally. Like it needed to "warm up". What can be causing this?

You ran 12 hours of Prime95..?

#1 Which test?

Use this method for stability (Prime95):
* 10-12 hours Small FFTs <--checks cpu mostly for stability
* 8 Hours Blend <--tells you if the NB and RAM are keeping up at the new speed

You know, to be honest, I have no idea what could cause that reaction--the no post. But, that happens to me sometimes when my fsb is too high. But, to be honest, I think it's just a minor tweak we are missing somewhere. But, we'll find it and stomp it--don't worry.

Get stable: Small FFTs and Blend stable.

Post me your exact settings like this:
cpu multi:
fsb:
cpu speed: ?.?GHz (multi x fsb = speed)

vcore:
vtt:

North Bridge:

Then list the RAM stuff. I'm not sure how it's listed in your bios but:
divider:
RAM speed:????MHz
timings: ?-?-?-??
voltage:

It might be a good idea to download Riva Tuner and install it so you can watch your temps in your task bar. You're overclocked now, that means you need to be involved in your pc's health... I'll show you how to oc your video card a bit too with it and adjust the auto fan speed on it. *But that's after the oc is done.

Doing some good work! Keep it up.
