Default i7 budget build

Hello,
I am looking to make up a budget build for i7 - I am a casual gamer, do video editing/encoding,etc.

1) CPU = i7 920? i5 750? i7 860?
2) Mobo = best budget ones which overclock the best?
3) Graphics card = Probably the new DX11 HD5850 OR HD5770 cards - so maybe i5 with integrated graphics is not such an option (but it is cheap!!)

4) RAM - 6GB?

Please recommend good cheap models!!!

will dx11 be really restricted by i5 integrated graphics controller?
and I also want a system which is 'futureproof' - is 1156 as future proof as 1366 , as 1366 will receive the gulftown 6core processors...

He said casual gamer

If you're also doing a fair bit of video editing and encoding an i7 setup would probably be well worth the investment. The hyperthreading will speed that stuff up quite a bit.

I can recommend from experience the Gigabyte EX58-UD3R if you want to go the i7 920 route. The board has excellent features and overclock potential for the pricetag. Runs my i7 at 4.2ghz rock solid. The downsides to it are the cramped layout of the expansion slots, and the fact it only has 4 ram slots. The former won't be an issue if you just run one graphics card or don't really use expansion cards and not many people require more than 6gb ram anyway.

Not really ... 1156 can only run in Pci-e x8/x8 if you are using a dual gpu setup but I'd be really surprised if the drop in bandwidth would be noticable. If you are running only one card its a non issue.

There is no development path for 1156 on Intel's roadmap, but considering the high adoption rate of 1156 they would have to be extremely retarded not to keep supporting it in the future. I suspect each new 1366 release will be folllowed a few months later by an 1156 version but thats just hearsay.

Edited to try and respond to your other queries.

I'd recommend i7 920, maybe UD3R/P6T, 6GB ram and 5850 for the graphic card.

2) i7 920 + hd5770

Which combination is better - since I cant really afford i7 + hd5850...?

1 for sure. The i5 720 OCs very well even with the stock cooler... and they are the 920s little brother basically. Theyre fast though, and that 5850 is like 2 5770s in CF.

sorry for triple posting, just to revive the topic...

if LGA1156 i7 860 + mobo + ram equals i7 920 and its mobo + ram in price, then which one should I get?

apparently i7 860 is better?>
