New to Overclock.net
|
What im looking to get.
1. MoBoard: EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED "Overclocker's Pick" 3-Way SLI + PhysX 1366 Intel X58 EATX Intel Motherboard 2. CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 3. Ram: OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1600LV6GK What i have: 4. Case: Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case 5. PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible 6. GPU: BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCX Video Card - 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, ... x2 ^^ current selected items are still up for comments and any recommendation and info is appericated. >NOTE ""still trying to decide on how to cool my CPU""< air or WC So my next question what is required to be able to overclock a Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz to 4.0GHZ+? stable? Get a Megahalem aftermarket CPU cooler. That stock one won't suffice at those speeds.

Agreed! also the xiggy dark knight and the mugen II are also good coolers.
Don't for get to DL software cpu-z, prime95, coretemp, and there are a few others.

air cooling will do an i7 up to 4 GHz no prob. any higher will most likely need WC just depends on your wants/needs

I believe that means it comes with a minimum of 2 6 pin power connectors

If you are only wanting to get to 4.0 there is really no need for a Classified. They are more for extreme benching and high clocks.
You can hit 4.0Ghz on air, but if you have the budget you can get a nice WC loop for ~$300.

im planning on WC my system in the future. but 2 start im going to get the system stable at 4.0ghz on air. then start putting everything together that i would need for a WC system.
at least that the direction that i plan on going. |
