Default 4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 Overkill?

So i just received my 2-2gb Ballistix memory stick kits today for my future build (in sig), and im wondering if its overkill?

If you guys think that only 1 is fine, then ill return the other one...but i wanna know if it will really be used?

Ill be running Vista Ultimate x64

Well, I thought once that 1GB was overkill but then when I upgraded I thought it was the best upgrade I've ever made....

Then I thought 2GB wasn't necessary but I jumped in the 2GB wagon and I (again) thought it was a great upgrade....

So, with 64-bit? I think it's not going to be overkill but I'm sure it's going to be noticeable and yes, I'd like to get 4GB right now but....I'm not buying Vista just yet.

So, go for it. More it's better.

Vista64 will use the extra ram. Keep it, you'll be glad you did.

Yep, Right now really with vista you would be in the golden realm with 3 gigs if they could set it up right but since it comes in 512/1gb/2gb its hard to run 3 gigs so go with four.

You wont need it all for a bit but in the near future I think 4 is gonna be very useful with vista.

Precisely, when DX10 comes out i think 4GB may be a good choice as it may take more than 2GB to keep them running. This is just speculation but with RAM prices at the moment you can't go wrong anyways.

Defiantely keep it. With only one stick you cant run your memory in dual channel (10-15% performance increase). A friend of mine just put 4GB in his laptop. He claims it makes up for his mid range video card and has increased his frame rates and improved overall game play. He has Vista 64 loaded on it as well.

Indeed. Core 2 Duos do not have on die memory controllers so four sticks at once doesn't cause problems like it does with AMD's processors.
