Default Who is running 4GB (well, 3.xxGB) in 32bit OS?

Thinkin of getting 4GB for 32bit XP in my next build, I mean it sees 3GB+ anyway, so it's not that much of a waste. Doing it to get ready for Crysis and Hellgate London, and then I will also be ready when I decide to upgrade to 64bit Vista. Just wondering how many other people are doing this? There is no performance loss (besides it not recognizing all 4GB) to running more RAM than can be recognized, like not being able to run in dual channel or something, right?

You should see 3.75GB on your computer. (Because you have 256MB vram)

However, I really don't recommend splitting a ram stick, it has caused issues for me.

If you buy 4GB I recommend just putting 3 sticks in until you get a 64-bit OS.

You will have to run the ram in 2T with 3 or 4 sticks.

The amount shown depends on the motherboard.

The amount shown depends on how much vram and sound ram you have.

If you have 4GB of ram

4GB minus Vram minus Sound ram = How much ram you will have.

Since XP only supports a maximum of 4GB, if you go over the limit it starts lowering your physical ram, so if he has 256MB of vram, he will see 3.75GB of physical ram.

I have 2x768MB Vram and 64MB sound card, So I see around 2.2GB

No, he wouldn't. XP/Vista reserves at least .5GB off the bat. The most he could see would be like 3.25GB.

You can always just run 2x1GB and 2x512MB. You will maintain dual channel and have all the RAM available for use.
