ok, I got my new Crucial Ballistix PC800 in today and in cpu-z it shows them running 5-5-5-15 at 500Mhz. So my question is, do they use the same sticks for the slightly higher speed rated Ballistix?? If so that means that I should be able to crank them up to those specs with no problem right??
I just had to RMA my G.Skill HZ's and I was running them 5-5-5-12@ 1100Mhz. But if I can have guaranteed speed of 1000Mhz then I won't try to push the Ballistix much further.

I seem to remember reading that anything over 800Mhz (PC6400) is basically pre-overclocked RAM.
I had a pair of Ballistix the same as you have there. They pushed 1200Mhz with a bit of tweaking and voltage, but unfortunaltely one of the sticks burnt out on me. You should be able to run those Ballistix at stock speed on 4-4-4-12 timings easily enough though.

cool, I'm goin back to my oc settings then, I just really didn't wanna burn two sets of ram out and have to buy a third set within 2 months, lol.
And beany, of course they can run stock @ 4-4-4-12, cause that is stock, thats not exactly what I was asking, I was asking about the 1000Mhz area and they will not run 4-4-4-12 at that speed, already tried. And yea, I read that some where too, cause JEDEC spec is PC800 for DDR2 at its highest rating, after that it goes to DDR3.

Edit: I realise now that I didn't take in that you said "Crucial Ballistix PC800"
My bad, I was talking about the 1066 sticks. Sorry for the confusion.

![]() well, I did keep my vdimm @ 2.1 so little more vdimm and they might be stable, just as long as these are just as good as my HZ's thats all I care.

I have a pair of balistix and I had to RMA them once already, and now a second time. The first time i was slightly OCing and this time I didn't touch the OC and kept it at 1:1 with stock volts. Not sure what the deal is, or why the ram gave up again. I even had the 1000mhz version. Ah well, here goes another RMA! (anyone else notice that RAM seems to be the most RMA'd item?)
