After you have applied the patch, reboot make sure it still works then turn off and install other 2gb.

The hotfix is called KB 929777 and you need to make sure your memory voltage is properly set before adding more RAM.

It does come in automatic updates, it is just very picky about how it installs itself. Most of the time a manual install is needed.
