I guess I don't need to update mine because I installed my RAM a few days ago and have no issues with Vista x64.

The reason you cant run 4 sticks is because of your mobo you should update to the 608 bios (optional) and your going to have to underclock the ram to 667mhz or OC to 850mhz because there is a ram hole and the motherboard will NOT work with any setup thats 4x1gb @ 800mhz

Thats cos vista 32bit can only recognise 4GB total - this includes memory on your gfx card etc. you can use a switch to force the memory allocation to change - normally its 1/2 for the kernal and the rest for apps etc. using a /3gb switch lets you allocate 3gb-ish to your apps (minus whatever extra memory you have i.e gfx card)

Thanks Rocker. Reading the M$ knowledge base I had ruled it out as I was not getting the particular error it mentioned ("IRQL....") but funnily enough it was still the problem.

Upgrading to SP1 (with only 2GB) automatically fixed this for me though, no longer required the patch then just put the other 2GB's in.

It is a very hit and miss problem.

Happens to some, not others.

It happened to me a couple of times, other times its been fine.
