Whilst i was having my troubles with 4GB of ram making me BSOD on vista 64bit, i did some research and came across an official MS Fix for the problem.
If you are experiencing the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) when you are trying to boot into Vista, then do the following: 1. Remove the ram modules so you have less than 3GB in your pc. 2. Boot into windows and download the appropiate patcher (Below) 3. Install patch, shut down, turn off and put all the ram back in. 4. Turn back on and you are done! http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777

This is great for people having trouble, and I'm guessing will be referred to more often now that games are starting to max out 2GB and gamers will be moving onto 4GB.
One thing though, I thought Vista 32-bit still can't see the full 4GB. Like XP, it sees something like 3.25GB. Or am I completely wrong?

This has been known for a really long time, but I guess there might be someone out there that still isnt using 4GB because of it.

No, MS isn't auto patching this and I WANT TO KNOW WHY?
I actually had to do 15 minutes searching over on the asus forums to find this. So i decided to put it here for easy access.

Even slipstreaming the patch to the disc still causes a BSOD. I most likely will just torrent a vista SP1 intergrated disc when it comes out. I mean I own the retail, and microsoft made it so you cant slipstream SP1, and I don't like having to take my ram out all the time, its hard on the connectors. With a error like this microsoft needs to offer SP1 intergrated upgrade discs for like $15...

That is not as complete as some people need it to be-sometimes just installing the patch and adding the memory will not work, and a re-format will be needed. Here is what you have to do then:
1) Take out two sticks of RAM so you only have 2GB. 2) Start up in Windows with only 2GB. 3) Turn Windows updates off. If you have already updated during the install, you will need to re-format again If you have to do that, disable updates during the install.4) After in Windows, with NO Windows updates or Drivers installed yet, install this hotfix. 5) Shut down your computer and add the other 2GB of RAM. 6) Turn it back on, and you should not BSOD!

Its the storport.sys file I believe that is the problem. I think its dependant on your motherboard as to if there are bsod. I've read that some people don't need this patch. It seems like most/all of the 680i owners do.

Yeah, this seems to be more of an issue with SOME 680i owners.
