Default 4-4-4-12 or 4-5-4-11?

Hi all, I was gonna upgrade my ram and came across some DDR2 800 Mushkin just a second ago, and noticed the timings were 4-5-4-11...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146673 $66.99

Which is better/faster...4-4-4-12 or 4-5-4-11? Is there a performance difference?

I know these aren't the best, but I only plan to do a mild OC...meaning keeping the ram at or close to 800mhz. Should I still be considering the Ballistix or is this decent enough?

Thanks in advance

Both are about the same, you won't notice a difference at stock speeds\timings. Although if the ballistix are around the same price give or take a little BUY THEM!

4-4-4-12 timings are faster then 4-5-4-11 timings.

Crazy, you're crazy! LOL

No actually technically he is right, but the difference is pretty un-noticeable.

I would get the Ballistix. AWESOME deal. I can run DDR2-937 at 4-4-4-12 35 without even tweaking subtimings.
I normally run DDR2-1066 5-5-5-15 35 because I get more bandwidth. Intels normally benefit more from higher frequency rather than bandwidth.

4-4-4-12 is technically faster. If you want to run as fast as you can, do it. Even if it's unknowticable, do it anyways if you can.

I agree that ballistix would be better then the mushkin overall, you could probally get their timings tighter with some overclocking (since that seems to be what you're going for).

Unless your a speedfreak you probably wouldn't notice the difference between them at near clock speeds. Overclocking wise the Ballistix would I think surpass the Mushkin but that's with heavy overclocking.

Realy it's down to how much your overclocking and your price range, although the Mushkins would do just fine.

I see, I see. Thanks for the quick responses guys, +reps! Okay I know the Ballistix are better, but I think i will be fine with my RAM being at the stock 800Mhz with a 1:1 ratio... so FSB will be 400Mhz. 3.2ghz [400x8] on the E6750 will make me happy.

I would get the Ballistix but they're significantly more expensive ($23) UP FRONT.

The reviews indicate that the Mushkins are easily set to 4-4-4-12, and I do not care for the minuscule performance difference.

Considering what I said, would it still be wise to consider the Ballistix for $23 more?

Personally I think the mushkins will preform nicely.
Ballistix are an overclockers favourite for pushing your rig
