which one is generally better? Why? Which one do you prefer?

2 x 2gb just because it overclocks way better then 4 x 1gb i noticed that recentlly i had 4 x 512 mb ram cud only oc to 2.5ghz now i got 2 x 512mb in and im at 2.77ghz stable

i think it has something to do with the bus's and stuff

2 sticks of memory put less stress on the motherboard

2x2gig. I puts less stress on the mobo while oc'ing. I have 4x1 gigs and I have to use 2.15v to get a nice oc.

2X2GB is indeed preferred. The memory controller will love you .

Better temps (only 2 stick generating heat instead of 4.. I am so amazed that this gets often overlooked), and better overclocks...

Nearly all desktop motherboards are dual channel, and perform best with one stick per channel. So 2x2 would work best.

That is unless you have a server motherboard with a 4-channel FB-DIMM controller, then it would be better to go with the 4x1 setup

2x2 GB.

Better for future upgrades, much easier to OC with.

Now that said, if you're looking for WR OCing, then you'll want 4x1 GB D9GMH/GKX...but then you don't really want 4x1 GB anyway...you'd want 2x1 GB.
