Default Best DDR2 1066 Gaming Memory and why?

I want to get to the bottom of this question once and for all. Please state the best DDR2 1066 gaming memory and why you think it's better than the rest.

There is the Corsair Dominator then there is G.skill...

Dominator: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197

G.Skill: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166

The Dominator is more expensive but it has a $20 fan to cool off the memory. (I can see you already have it, good choice! )

I've heard G.Skill is quite reliable and cheap as you can see.

To be honest DDR2 800 has many more choices than 1066 but i can't bring myself to downgrade speed for a different variety of RAM. All the hardcore gaming rigs i have seen are using Corsair of Crucial but everyone says G Skill is tha bomb hence the reason i started this post. What is better and do you have

The Corsair Dominator, reliability from a trusted brand name and good overclocking potential (DHX technology has been proved to work, not just a placebo!)

With memory the performance comes down to the IC's they use. Frankly I haven't seen a "superstar" emerge for the 2GB modules. With the 1GB modules, it was simple, get memory with Micron D9GMH IC's and overclock the heck out of them. But there doesn't seem to be one IC that is leaps and bounds beyond the rest with the 2GB modules.

There's also the question of longevity; which memory sticks will last a long time and which will die in a couple weeks. Crucial uses Micron D9HNL for their 2GB modules and a lot of people experienced dead memory after a few weeks, even though they overclocked fairly well.

So which one is the best? I don't really know, but G.Skill has a great reputation in both performance and longevity. Those 2x2GB DDR2 1066 modules were selling at $150 for weeks and weeks. At $90 they're a great deal. However, the Corsair Dominator probably overclock just as well. I haven't worked with either so I can't give my opion on which is better but from what I've read in other people's posts, both seem to be working very well for people.

Tell me about it, that's why i just ordered the 2 x 2gb modules. The Corsair is strong when overclocked but the 2gb sticks are too big to upgrade to 4 sticks, so i had to find a buyer for my Corsair and order some G Skill. With how cheap they are by my next paycheck i'll order the other 4gb for the fun of it and be at 8gb. OVERKILL!!!

You need to ask yourself if you need 2x2 GB or will 1x2 suffice. There are still D9GMH available at reasonable prices if 2x1 will work. The Team in my sig are $55 shipped (Tankguys.com).

WARNING: Corsair Dominators no longer use Micron chips in their 1066 RAM. These do:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145165

But keep them under 2.4 volts.

Dont get too caught up with speed ratings on D9s (again look at my sig.) the Dominators listed above will run 1100 MHz easy at 5-5-5-15 (I used to have a pair...at 2.4 volts).

Wouldn't your OS kinda dictate how much RAM you'll need? I imagine anyone with Vista will want 4GB.
