Default OCZ 2gb 2000mhz vs Corsair 4gb 1600mhz

Hey guys..

literally about to order all the bits for my new rig.. had a last look at components today and found that there was a very similarly priced 4gb kit.. which would perform better.. more speed over size.. or size over speed..??

many thanks

Corsair is overpiced IMO

OCZ is my favourite rams. I've got the 1800mhz kit and I can get over 2000mhz 9-9-9-20. If you can, buy 4gb OCZ

I'd go with the 4gb and oc it to 2ghz, if possible. Also 4gb would be more useful in heavy load applications.

I say go for 4Gb 1600 or 1800 ram, why you wounder.

1, you should run ram linked and sync on 790i, otherwise you lose performance.

2, you need FSB 500 to reach 2000MHz ramspeed, it can be a bit difficult and some applications donīt like to run FSB 500 and you need to enable both P1 and P2 to get any good performance and this need more volt to the SPP to achive.

3, you need probably timing 9-9-9@2000 but 7-7-7@1800 is slightly better.

4, with your VGA it should be enough with 7-7-7@1600

5, if you run Vista32bit or any 64bit OS you should run 4Gb

So run run FSB 400 and 1600@7-7-7 gives you good performance or FSB 450 and 1800@7-7-7 gives you even better performance.

Thatīs some of the reasons to go with 4Gb@1600 or 1800.
