Default !!Need a MoNSTa OVerclock!

YO Peeps,

My sig below shows my Rig Specs ( have everything now but the case, stupid Dell so slow... ) But anyways, i dont think this OCZ Ram will do the trick, so i need to know what the BEST ram to overclock my e8400 to at least 3.8 or 4.0+ GHZ may be ( i may move to water cooling so dont worry about heat ).

So what suggestions are there for ram, nothing rediculously expensive, which should overclock VERY well. Im hearing a lot about G.Skill and Mushkin Redlines but never owned any.

Thanks Gentlemanz and Ladiez.

If you don't waht to overclock the RAM, you should be fine with G.Skill or Mushkin. I have my E8400 at 3.6 ghz and my mushkin set to DDR2-800, so any 1066 RAM will be good, don't take my word for it though, I'm kind of a noob to overclocking

with your setup you can hit 3.6ghz with out any problems.

I have some gskill ddr2 800 and i was able to get up to 4.0 ghz without having to adjusting my ram.

I have heard some of the new batches of the e8400 however are harder to OC and some can get to 3.8ghz but with a lot of effort and that was really pushing the OC ceiling for them.

Just a suggestion:
This kit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
You can run 3.6 with a 5:4 divider @ 1000mhz
or
up to 4.0 + with a 1:1 divider

edit: just saw you have Nvidia

I am going to assume that running 5:4 would be slower then running 1:1 right. I think at 1:1 you get the best possible performance but your ram has to keep up to pace with your CPU Overclock.

BUt in reality, how much difference does a 5:4 vs. 1:1 make for...gaming persay? Any idea on that?

ya but you really dont need to worry about overclocking your ram while overclocking due to your 750i board you can run your ram unlinked

With an NVIDIA chipset, the 1:1 ratio might be slightly faster than 5:4.

With an Intel chipset, the 5:4 ratio will surely be faster.

Regardless, with either chipset, the difference is probably not going to be large enough to see or feel in the vast majority of games.

HHhhhmmm...

In that case, im starting to feel like keeping my ram may not be the worst idea. If i can run a 5:4 , im sure the OCZ sticks i have will give me a fairly good overclock. At least i hope.

Does anyone have any Experience overclocking with this kit:
OCZ2P8004GK

The 4 Gig OCZ kit.
