I have 4GB of RAM installed on my mobo. (see below) however, my OS dxdiag says that I only have three. I was told that this is because certain operating systems only accept 3GB max of RAM
is there any way I can make it accept all 4 if not more?

There is a work-around for the 4Gb memory issue. Microsoft 's work-around is known as Physical Address Extension, or PAE. This is an option if your hardware supports PAE, and only works with 32 bit operating systems:
Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 products. Microsoft ![]() Quote:

you need a 64-bit OS for having more than 3GB of ram recognized

There is a way around it (\PAE), but I've never tried it.

If you check your system info (WindowKey+Break) it'll already likely say Physical Address Extension. 32 bit = <4gb of ram . unless you're running a server version. to the OP: This would've come up if you clicked the "Check if already posted" button when posting your question. It's been answer a quadrillion times (approximately)

I believe there is a workaround for the 32bit but 4G is the max i think. I would just go with the 64bit option. The only problem i had with the 64bit was my stupid wireless card driver (32bit only) but i found i nifty site for 64bit drivers and found a home made one that actually worked better. Hmmm now if i can only remember what that site was.

From what I have heard PAE is pretty much useless for any of us, and might even generate a performance hit.
The limit of 4GB (4gb - GPU VRAM, and system memory leaves you with the 3.25 ish gigs) is entirely because of a 32bit OS, upgrading to any 64 bit OS will allow for +4gb to be used.
