Default Just doubled my ram size...

Wow i cant believe what a difference just 512mb can do

I went from a single 512mb stick

to 4x256mb sticks for a total of 1 gig. Its like i hit the NAAAAWZZZZZ button or something

Everything booted up fine when i put them in and all sticks are recognized and the whole system is alot faster especially when gaming

well a very tall man cannot drive a small car, no leg room.
some times you just got have room to streach your leggs to make the ride better.

just happen to think about it after i posted.
if you like 1 gig of leg room, you can stick that 512 back in with 3 256 and it will
give you 1.25 gigs on memory.

Well i thought about doing that....

But...

The 512mb stick i had is 16x8 pc2

And the 4x256 sticks i acquired last night are 16x16 pc2.

At first i kept the 512 in and installed the 3 256's in, but upon boot up windows warned the memory were different speeds and might not function properly...

Does this hold water?

well yes.
the 512 must have a diffrent speed then the 256 sticks.
if you do use that way, the only thing the pc can do is clock the memory to the slowest speed on what is used.
