Default Memory Multiplier

Quick question (specs in sig):

This PC isn't currently OCed at all (new PC soon and don't need OC anyways). I was wondering if it's still good to set my RAM multiplier at 2.0 in BIOS which makes it half the speed on a stick or something like that. Right now with that my RAM speeds are 5-4-4-10. Is this good or should I set the multiplier back to Auto and the RAM at 5-5-5-15 (default)?

Thanks for any help.

Nice read, perhaps it may help? (May have already read it, but might make for a nice review)

Yeah that does help a bit but I'm still not sure on which of the two settings is better. And why I'm at it one more question: Should you set it to 2.0 no matter the RAM size? Ex: 2GB, 3GB, 4GB.

Thanks again.

It doesn't matter how much RAM you've got compared to how fast you run it.
The multiplier will set the clock speed that the RAM will run at - if your Front Side Bus runs at 266Mhz, then with a memory multiplier of 2, your RAM will run at 533MHz. There will be a maximum tested speed of your RAM, you should run at that speed if possible.
Memory timings are similar (in that they relate to RAM performance), but are independent of FSB speed. Your RAM should tell you the recommended timings for a given speed - you should set the timings to those settings if you don't want to OC. If your RAM is running slower (through lower multiplier), you should be able to run the timings lower, but it will be trial and error to see what settings are stable. You should stress test using Memtest or OCCT for stability.
