Hi
__________________Couldn't decide whether to post this on here or in Laptop section, but here it goes. I have an old IBM X31 laptop, which was given by work after it was all written off, so worth nothing to them. Anyway, it's got 1.4ghz Pentium M, and 512 PC2100 RAM. On Levono site, it says it only supports PC2100 or PC2700 RAM. Will it absolutely not take any of the later DDR? I had someone offer me PC4200 1GB ram from a Dell Inspiron, but if my laptop can't take it, there would be no point. Any advise would be appreciated.

Well, the laptop is free, and RAM is close to free. All I want to do is the use it as a means of dumping my photos from the compact flash onto the portable HDD via the free lappie when out on location photoshoot. 512MB at the moment struggles too much with the amount of data. I was hoping upping it to 1GB would make it cope better. Can it take PC4200 DDR sticks designed for Dell when it only supports officially up to PC2700?

no you cant pop it in the slots as laptops cant be OCed(generally speaking) so your better off with some that actually works with the laptop

![]() I also doubt an Intel Atom processor would outperform a Pentium M processor. Source
