Default Corsair Dominator DDR2 4GB 8500-1066 - Opinions?

Hey guys, I am looking at getting this ram and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? And what voltages they run between/what speeds you have gotten? Thanks guys!

If you can afford it then sure. Also if you are not going to OC past the stock 1066, then cheaper G.Skill PQ, or PK series are a better option. They will probably not OC as well as the Corsair though.

$180 over here, compared to $100 Geil 4GB DRR2-800.... it isn't that expensive.

I have tested those on my Rampage Formula and I could reach the following.

1066 5-5-5-15 Stronger tRD6@1,88v, NBv 1,41
1125 5-5-5-15 Stronger tRD7@2,10v, NBv 1,51.
1140 5-5-5-15 Stronger tRD6 Pull In PH1 enabled@2,26v NBv1,61.
860 4-4-4-12 Stronger tRD7@2,10v, NBv1,61.
870 4-4-4-12 Stronger tRD7@2,28v, NBv 1,61.

Not bad but not to good either but I don´t think any other PC8500 2x2Gb can reach higher, maybe ~1160 CAS5 or ~925 CAS4.

If you want a certain ram speed buy that speed and not lower and then try to OC, you might get disipointed if you don´t reach it.

If you want 1066 CAS5 and not OC you can buy the cheapest of them, it´s good enough.

You can read this thread at XS to find out more about those Dominators.

And finally, the best with those Dominator are the heatsink, I think is one of the best on the market, it keep them cooler then many others and with the fan on it´s even better even at half speed.

2x2 GB kits at 1066 are expected not to OC very well... the dominators are one of the few which can actually OC past 1066 Mhz...

If you are into OC'ing, stick with a 2x1 GB RAM...

I'm getting my dominators from another member here, so I'll post my numbers in a bit

Corsair DOM's 8500 costs about $110, it's a hit

Mushkin Ascent has "true" heatsinks and Corsair RAM is always overpriced.

The better Powerchips should do 1120-1150 MHz.

I've heard they're very nice and good OCers. Also quick too! If you have the cash, you should get it and Dominate

its worth it if you really need ram. your ram timings look like they're really hurting too. i'd say go for it if you really can't get those current timings down. weird cause i have a similar g.skill kit and mine will run 5-4-4-12.

actually, i gained a bunch of 3dmark06 score when i tightened my timings, probably around 500 marks.
