I got better RAM, mostly because my old RAM was causing games to crash. Now, the games don't crash, they just run really, really slow. FPS goes below 20 at medium graphics in games as old as 2 years.

I think my CPU overclock got reset when I installed this new RAM. It said that "overclocking failed, or overvoltage failed!", and it asked me to press F1 to "run setup" or F2 to "Load default values and continued". I pressed F2. I just noticed now that my CPU is at 3.2GHz and not at its previous 4.1GHz speed.

I ran CPUz before I changed the RAM, and after. Here are the screenshots of what it says.

I was just playing Team Fortress 2 for the first time today after I installed the new RAM and noticed it running really slow, and turning on the FPS tracking thing showed FPS below 20 many times.

I play Team Fortress 2 over 20 hours a week, for months now all the way up until I changed RAM and it always ran fine on highest settings. Now, I can't seem to get above 20 FPS on any setting.

Overclock it back to 4.1Ghz, speed should return.

900 MHz on the CPU will change that much? Even so, all right that's great and all but I have absolutely no idea how to overclock.

Who overclocked it in the first place? The easiest way to explain it is to reboot your computer, load up the bios (should be the delete key on that asus motherboard) and increase your FSB. I'm not too familiar with the Pentium D's (I skipped that generation), but you are comparing two completely different builds. Yes, you have more RAM now, but that means next to nothing when your clock speed has dropped. Sure, 900Mhz doesn't look like much, but that's 100 shy of 1Ghz. 1Ghz is a lot of speed in the computing world. So yes, I'm going to go ahead and say that your overclock being dropped would result in your worse performance. Check out some guides around on this site, and get that baby going again!
