Default DDR3 help select please

My wife is planning on buying a computer with an i7 920 w/ 3 GIG DDR3. Some of the user revies of this computer have mentioned that it didn't have enough RAM. So I am looking at adding more. Suggestions. I haven't used DDR3 before.

What exactly do you do that requires more than 3GiB of RAM? If you can't answer this, you probably don't need any more.

That said there have been some really good deals for 6GiB kits recently, so if the difference in price is only a few dollars, it may be prudent to buy a larger set.

Like I said I was just checking it out because of several reviews by others that had bought the same computer. I also figured more RAM is better. WOW @ the price on those Dominators.

More ram is only better if you are going to use it. Otherwise, it's exactly the same, or slightly worse (more power consumption and heat, slightly less OCing).

Anyway, a 6GiB set that is cheaper than the Dominators: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231230

Ewiz had a great deal the other day for a 6GiB kit of SUper Talent DDR3 1600, for less than 100 bucks. I think it's expired now though.

I'm shopping around for a 6GB kit right now too, and I was going to opt for the XMS3's instead of the Dominators due to prices

I'm probably going for these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145222 at $179.99 and free shipping

Any objections before I make a bad choice?

I'm in no position to give anybody advice on RAM especially DDR3 as I have never had any before. From what little bit I do know about RAM though is you don't seem to be able to go wrong with Corsair.
