I have a question.
I read that you can set your tRFC to tRC + 2.
CPUZ says that the tRC (JEDEC) of my RAM is 24, though I can't find a setting in my bios for tRC. My current tRFC is set to auto and is 54. Can I set my tRFC to 26?

Also, I read that performance level is very important. I remember seeing that mine was 7 (I think). I'm running 800MHz currently. I was trying to overclock my RAM and eventually gave up. Now memset says my performance level is 11. At stock speed (800MHz), what should I set Performance Level to?

Thanks.

At 400FSB you can use performance level 7 or 8 (lower is better). You could try 6, but I don't think it will boot.

Your tRFC depends on memory speed and main timings mostly, if the JEDEC profile says you can set it to 26, then that will work without problems. Just make sure it's the same speed as the profile that you are reading from (400=800mhz).

OK I figured out how to change Performance Level on my mobo, I had to set "Transaction Booster" to manual, then change Performance Level in there. I'm at 8 currently, I'll try booting with 7. I found a spreadsheet calculator that says 7 won't work for me, and a formula in an Anandtech article that also seems to say that 7 won't work for me.

I'm leaving tRFC on auto. I don't think that 54 is bad at all, especially since I have 4 sticks of 2GB RAM installed.

Thank you for the help!

Highly unlikely.

The tRC + 2 applies to the old DDR days, not DDR2, & not remotely DDR3.

It'll take a minor miracle to run tRFC @ only 26, unless you have the RAM @ silly low speeds (therefore ruining the performance).

You generally need 45-60 for 2x2 GB kits to run at decent speeds.

If tRD (Performance Level) is too low, it won't POST
It's pretty easy to find out what is too low simply by the lack of POSTing
