Exclamation PC6400/800Mhz 1GB RAM Questions

Hi Guys!

I wish to upgrade the RAM on my PC. As in my sig below, i'm currently running 2 X PC6400/800 Crucial DDR2 1GB CL5. Howeever, at my local PC Megamart, almost ALL the shops do not bring in CL5 anymore. They only have CL 6 of the same specs(PC6400/800Mhz ).

What is the difference between:

1) PC6400/800 DDR2 1GB CL5
2) PC6400/800 DDR2 1GB CL6
3) PC6400/800 DDR2 1GB N5
4) PC6400/800 DDR2 1GB N6

I understand that the lower the number, the lower the latency, which is better. Am i right to say this? Thanks!

Yes lower latency is better.

You might want to look at 2x2GB sticks if they have them. As they can sometimes be cheaper.

But i already have:

Slot 1 Yellow: PC6400/800 Crucial DDR2 1GB CL5
Slot 2 Balck: Empty
Slot 3 Yellow: PC6400/800 Crucial DDR2 1GB CL5
Slot 4 Black: Empty

Will it be okay if i put a PC6400/800 DDR2 2GB CL5 on Slot 2 and 5 each? Will there be any performance issues?

EDIT: Also i read that if i added more RAM, my capacity will be maxed out at only 3.2GB. Is this true?

It would be around 3.5GB more or less, but you can pick up DDR2 pretty cheap right now.

Cas 5 1066 sticks.

Which 4 sticks makes overclocking hard.

So you could take out your old, sell it, and then put in the new.
