Happens with every memory standard.

They are making more DDR3 than DDR2 now, and it's unlikely that DDR2 will ever be as cheap as it was 6-12 months ago.

Paid $45 for both sets of my RAM. Those same sets are now $80, one of the cheapest on Newegg.

DDR3 however has more than halved it's price in that time.

If you think back far enough, it used to be pricey, then had a HUGE price drop. Now it is starting to climb back to what the prices were when DDR2 was first released. Time to move on to DDR3. I have been using it for over a year now.

I know the prices are a bit steep and it's disappointing, it's just because of the ddr3 memory prices are getting affordable, it's just marketing, i wouldn't worry about it cuz black fridays is around the corner and everything is gonna be very cheaper!!
