Greetings OCers,

I'm having a hard time deciding between the:

Corsair Dominator-GT 1600

or the

Corsair Dominator-GT 2000

Anyone think the speed and timing differences are worth the extra $110??

Or would 8GB's of the 1600's out perform the 6GB's of the 2000's??

If you have an i7 920 AND would like to overclock past 4.0ghz (200 bclk which would put the ram at 1600mhz with x8 mulltiplier) then i suggest going with a 2000mhz kit. of course you could also try overclocking the ram if you need to run higher bclk or just lowering the multiplier but what fun is that? \

Edit: Unless your doing some serious video encoding then 6gb is more than enough

Think of it this way. Buy the 2,000mhz then you are safe for overclocking and if you do "prefer" lower speed and timings you can do that. You win both ways.

Side note:
* 8 multi with a i7.......?

I actually was looking at those Corsair Doms, but ended up the G.Skill 3x2Gb 2000:

They keep going up in price (currently $189), but I bought them at $150 a few months ago.

They run 2000, but can also run 1600 6-7-6-18 1T. I am running them at 1611 6-7-6-18 1T with 1.59v. They are 1/2 the price of the Dominators, and are worth looking into.

Yes, 8x MEMORY Multi with an i7.

Here's the GSkill kit I went with - not bad, not the best.

I run them at 2005 MHz with 9-9-9-27 2T 1.65v or 1600-1680MHz at 7-7-7-20 1T 1.6v

Yea i never use that meaning though., I thought you was talking about the cpu multi. As i was like that be one heck of some ram speed right there.

I like G.Skill my last set of hk's was the best ram i ever used.

I'll definitely be going with the 2000Mhz, I want to get the most out of my i7 920.

G. Skill also has their "Perfect Storm" line with a bit lower timings than the "Tridents".

So I guess that narrows my options down to:

G. SKILL Perfect Storm
and
CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT

I'm not sure if the Corsairs are worth the extra $90 or not...
