Default MemTest 4.0 Question

Just a quick question about running MemTest 4.0 on your computer. Are you supposed to move a stick of ram if you are using dual channel memory or is it alright to leave both sticks in the motherboard and run the test for 7 passes?

Both sticks are fine.

You should only run individual sticks if you're finding an error with all the memory in the system at once. This is done to isolate the problem to one specific module.

Alright I was thinking the same. Thanks for the help. And is 7 passes enough?

7 full passes is plenty. You will know pretty quick if you have a bad stick.

Are you having issues, or are you just checking for peace-of-mind?

Has it been freezing since a clean install?

Have you tested in Safe Mode?
If it hangs in safe mode, that's almost certainly the problem.

seems to freeze around messenger a lot but will freeze around web browsing and on boot up on occasion. What would you suggest? Re-install messenger, download 186.18 Nvidia drivers (I hear they are the best), run memtest for longer than 2 passes? All the above?

Run LinX and select all for memory, and run Prime95 large FFT's to stress the northbridge/memory/FSB.
