I might actually get a 775 board that works with DDR3 given the prices are almost completely leveled out. A 4GB kit of DDR2 1066 costs roughly the same as a 4GB kit of DDR2 1600-2000 now :/

Actually, for the price of that build, it would be cheaper/same to go i5...

Ya you can cut your cpu price in half with an i5 and and another $20 or so for the mobo. That's the way I would go if I were you.

Yea you need to go with something else at that price. As for one your fixing to do a new system and buy everything new. But yet you're going with a older socket.

Now don't get me wrong with the socket 775 there is nothing wrong with it. But if your going to buy all that new buy a new platform and then you will have a better upgrade path in the future.

Also not sure but have you checked the for sale threads, if you are intent on going the 775 route. You could save a good amount of cash that way buying stuff used. Some prefer new and i'm not knocking that. But someone maybe going i7, i5 or amd route and is selling a 775 system for a good price.

i have to agree with KILLER K on buying used.
i got my new setup all used, after selling my i7
and i5 rigs.wanted to try out the new platforms
but for OCing i found them boring.LGA775 i find
just more fun to tweak.my setup is almost identical
to what you posted and its a great OCing setup.
heres what my setup can do.
Q9650+UD3P+corsairTX750

as for memory i recommend getting G.skill's 2x2gb pc9600 Pi
thats what ill be getting very soon.they easily do ddr2-1300+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231201

but if thats too much the pc8800 Pi's are great too.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231194

but going i5 is also a good route too.few things to keep in mind though
being that 1156 is new and the first batches of cpu's seem to require
quite a lot of vcore(like i7-920 CO's did)for OCing and there isnt alot
of information for help.where as the EP45-UD3P/R's has threads in every
forum with a wealth of info for OCing.any question you would ever have
has an answer somewhere.
